Even with the growing green awareness, only about 9% of plastic waste gets recycled. Mainly because not all plastic is designed to be recycled. The plastic used for bags, films, and packaging takes hundreds of years to degrade, so even when recycled, they're mostly piling up in landfills.
In financial terms, $3.7 Trillion globally is being spent annually on the overall social and environmental costs of plastic pollution every year.
